Meet Lorena

Lorena Grippa is an Italian goldsmith designer.

He began his education as an adult, after studying at Bocconi University, leaving behind a career in the world of finance.

Her passion for gold objects, certainly latent in her over the years, was consolidated during a stay in India, where, together with women goldsmiths from New Delhi, she dedicated a large part of her day to the design and creation of small and simple jewels. in gold and semi-precious stones.

Upon returning to Italy, to Milan, his adopted city, he looked for a master goldsmith with whom to share his workshop and, sitting at the table next to him, he “steals” and absorbs the rudiments of an ancient craft still entirely carried out by hand.

Working with your hands

For Lorena, working with her hands means:

  • transfer the intention that comes from the head and the
    heart, through a precise and conscious touch, to the metal that is forging
  • work slowly, without the use of electricity,
    using only mechanical tools
  • do not use the help of any technological tool

Each piece starts with 24 carat gold, with the addition of silver and copper Lorena creates the 18 and 9 carat gold alloy.

Workspace

For Lorena, the laboratory is a place where she can receive customers and show them the entire collection of her pieces, offering them the time to observe them, wear them and evaluate their choices in peace.

Lorena also loves working on new pieces, following the client's tastes and ideas, revisiting pieces from the collection or creating new ones.

This process can concern stones already in the customer's possession or stones with cuts decided in agreement with the customers and made by its suppliers.

Contact with the client begins with a telephone call in which ideas, tastes and inspirations are discussed; the piece can be concluded finished after sufficient revisions to achieve the client's real intention.
